Tried a different CG look...

A colored charcoal sketch. Magic Spell.

The CG bombed so I practiced FX with it.

Another old one done withOUT layers.

This was done in an OLD software without layers and without Pressure Sensitivity. "Picture Publisher VI" doesn't have tablet support other than using your pen as amouse, but it does have ways to get softened edges and tapers for those who learn the work-arounds. :)
