Troop 58 Information

The troop follows the Patrol method.  The Patrol method places responsibility on the Scouts to plan and carry out Troop activities.  Each Scout will be assigned to a patrol.  A patrol is a smaller group of Scouts that is lead by the Patrol Leader.  Each Scout has a responsibility to support and help the patrol succeed.

The Patrol Leaders Council carries out the Patrol Method (once called the Greenbar).  The council is lead b the Senior Patrol Leader and Assistant Senior Patrol Leader.  All Patrol Leaders and Assistant Patrol Leaders, as well as the Troop Guide, are members of the council.  The Patrol Leader Council plans the troop activities.  Each Scout shoud bring concerns and ideas to their Patrol Leader for discussions at the council meetings.

RANK ADVANCEMENTS & MERIT BADGES

Through the Troop's program of meetings, camp-outs, Summer Camp and Advancement Day, each Scout will advance.  Achievements are signed off by the Troops Assistant Scoutmaster(s)-"ASM(s)" or the Scoutmaster "SM".  Parents are not allowed to sign off achievements or merit badges.

First Class skills are passed by first working with an approved Senior Scout to learn the skill(s).  The Scout then presents himself to the designated Assistant Scoutmaster or Scoutmaster where the skill(s) is/are demonstrated.

The Record book containing information about each Scout's status on rank and badges is at each meeting for review by the Scout or the Scout's parents.  A Scout can approach the Scoutmaster when he wants to earn a particular badge and a Merit Badge Counselor will be found.
