Who Am I?

I am Tony Gill, a 40-year old British guy living in Brooklyn, New York.

Professionally I recently started a new job as Global Director of Library Science & Information Management with Project DaVinci, a new marketing communications agency being set up within the WPP Group to handle the Dell account worldwide.

I'm very new to the advertising world, however; prior to my current gig, I spent the previous 14 years helping museums, libraries and archives share their digital knowledge. If you're interested, there's more information about my professional background in my online curriculum vitae.

Before moving to New York, I lived in San Francisco, London, Cambridge, Sheffield and Letchworth.

I've written a few things on topics relating to my line of work, most of which are listed on my publications list -- some of them are available online.

I have a Master of Arts degree in Communication in Computing from Middlesex University, and a Bachelor of Science Honours degree in Physics & Philosophy from King's College, University of London. I was also enrolled on a PhD program at Kingston University for a while, but abandoned my doctoral research when I moved to the U.S. in 1999.

I like music, reading, cinema, photography, home video, travel, snowboarding, beer and cars. I don't like George W. Bush's administration, Anglo-American imperialism, waste, corporate greed or flagrant disregard for the environment. I am a member of Greenpeace UK. I realize that some of these rants & raves are contradictory or mutually incompatible.

I have two sisters (Sharon & Vicki), one brother (David), five nieces (Madeline, Lisa, Jasmine, Isobel and Sophie) and three nephews (Rowan, Robbie and Kaelen), all of whom are younger than me. I was also a decompression baby.
