Nov. 30, 2004

Orlando, FL -- With the end of the regular season of college football fast approaching, the finalists for fourteen of college football's most prestigious awards have been named, including the finalists for the Heisman Memorial Trophy.

Strong safety Atari Bigby is the lone UCF Golden Knights player to be named to any of the finalist lists. Bigby has been named one of three finalists for the Jim Thorpe Award, which is annually given to the nation's most outstanding defensive back. The other nominees are Miami's Sean Taylor and Wisconsin's Jim Leonhard. Bigby was also a finalist for the Jim Thorpe Award last season, and finished fourth in the voting.

The awards ceremony for the Heisman Memorial Trophy will be held at the Downtown Athletic Club of New York City in Manhattan on the Saturday night of December 18, 2004. The other awards and trophies will be awarded during the week following the championship games during the Home Depot College Football Awards ceremony on Saturday, December 11, at the Renaissance Orlando Resort at Sea World. The award ceremony will be televised by ESPN.
