Top 100s, ARRs & AvgFins Updated - by Michael at 10:20 am

Active Legends
Ben Miller becomes the second player in history to reach Legend+ rank in shortcuts! He achieved that rank after significantly improving his Royal Raceway 3lap SC PR. Michael Liem improved some PRs at Frappe Snowland and Royal Raceway, to cut one ARR point. Michael Jongerius improved 2 ARR points, by getting new PRs at Choco Mountain. Lars Nouwen had 8 new PRs and did some major damage to his non-shortcut statistics!

Three new Kings!
Congrats to David Hehn, Jean-Francois Dubreuil and Simon Laflamme! All three of them made big improvements and jumped from Elite A to King F. David Hehn is even close to reaching the King D level.
King B player Marcelo Almeida got 2 PRs. Kevin Horst improved his ARR score by 0.6 points and reached King D, while Frank DiNicola is also making his way through the King F ranks.

Other ranks
Todd Worcester and Mike Linski are active as usual. And with their Elite B ranks, they can look forward to reaching some nice milestones in the future.
Fabien Malaval climbed from #110 to #100 in the ARR list. His rank is Pro B now.

New player: Michael Newland
Welcome to Michael Newland from the UK. He hasn't played Mario Kart 64 time trials for too long yet. But he has already reached quite a strong level. He's ranked #132 in non-shortcut AvgFin, and his kartrank is Semi-Pro D.

PAL/NTSC Rankings done + matchups/times viewer - by Michael at 11:34 am

The PAL and NTSC top25 and top15 tables are updated, as well as the PAL worldrankings, NTSC worldrankings and Freak worldrankings.

In the past 6 weeks, lots of movement has happened. Many NTSC players who recently broke into the elite/king ranks have gotten their name into the NTSC nonSC ranking page for the first time. Marcelo Almeida dos Reis seems to be the most spectacular climber in that category.
On the Shortcut rankings Mike Simmons (yes, he's still alive...) climbed from 3rd to 2nd place, Only ONE point seperates him from #1 ranked player Myles Bukrim! Brent Wingert and Chris Rayola also passed several players on those rankings.

Thomas Grandjean reached the top10 in non-shortcut in PAL. David Runnelid and Fabien Malaval made their entry into the nonSC rankings. Fabien also did very well at shortcuts, where he entered at a 20th place.

I also updated the databasefile for the times viewer and the matchups page. It's been a month since last update, so there's probably lots of interesting stuff to check out.

WR+POW+9 Liem Type Pages Done - by Kevin at 10:19 am

I think I will save the PL for past midnight, cause some players really made some leaps, and I figure I should get things current. When the smoke clears, we are going to have 2 new members to the kart site.

Fabien Malaval, From France,is a known top competitor at the PD Elite site. We are exepecting great things out of Fabien as the months pass, cause of that reason. We also have Corey Plestina from Illinois. He seems very excited about the community, and will be improving his times as well.

Anyhow, Horst, DiNicola, and the others that were meantioned last update continued to have great weeks, and the POW race wasn't a blowout as we expected, but Horst hung on for this one.

As far as World Records go, Alex Penevs 19 second time with the new shortcut is now valid. Last night, I was able to land the shortcut on the 2nd lap on tape myself, and nearly hit the harder SC for the 2nd leg of this, so I will be posting the exact method for the Wonn/Penev method when I update the players list.

Ok, now the 9 links. After today, Liem will be retaking over these updates, so for the last time, I think, here we go.

PL+WR's Updated - by Kevin at 2:14 am

Well I decided to drop in for a small update of the players page. The players list has all times concidered through the end of the 12th. I haven't changed the colors yet again, I shall do so at the end of the POW week, to reflect the previous 8 days of playing.

It's clear I've been pretty slack on that, so I've devised an efficient system in which I will have this taken care of for now on. I'm sure Horst got robbed of the last POW, but this time, he is making sure there is no mistake that he's the top pick.

MF 1'16"94
KB 1'23"47 26"76
KD 1'48"10 33"51
TT lap of 50"68
FS 1'44"63 33"62
CM 1'40"57 32"73
MR 1'15"60 (25"23, 25"22, 25"15)
SL 1'41"52
RRa 2'28"75
DK 1'58"87 37"45(39"15, 39"60, 40"12)
YV lap of 27"47
RRo 5'05"91

Check this out... 17 Unique Personal Records in 4 Days at the Elite A- King F Level! That is nothing to downplay, let me tell you! So will the Almeida's and Grandjean's of the world have something to worry about? Time will tell.

Still though, I think Frank Dinicola will have something to say about Horst running away with the pow, cause he does have 8 Unique Prs and 9 Time Changes to challenge that Horst Locomotive.

Some other great performances were turned in by Chen with a 3rd place NTSC time, as well as Michael Linski finally breaking that darn Turnpike Curse sorta. Almeida still did get 5 Unique PRs to stay in the hunt for POW.

Lastly, I updated the world record page with 2 new Belated Times of Alex's. One of the times beat an amazing time that we did think was a world record at the time by Lars Nouwen by 4 hudredths. While this didn't greatly overshadow the accomplishment, this is an example of why I stress times to be released on the day or as close to it as possible. I feel it's disrespectful to your competition when you fail to do what is right, especially when your a champion. We all saw what hoarding times did to the shooters, so lets set a good example, please. If I was Lars, I'd beat some arse.

Anyhow, I dont like to end with the negatives, so I just wanna say that this has been a fairly impressive 4 days of the POW week, and I have a feeling that Horst will have to keep active for the rest of the week to seal the deal, but he definitely is the mid-way favorite.

Til Next Update All!

Kevin Horst - by Kevin at 3:37 am

One last thing I can think of. This guy has been going nuts with the PRs in the last few days, so it appears me managed to do one better than those 4 players I talked about at the end of the news

Outside Of Playing News

Well Wow! If I didn't make some really huge mistake, it would be short of a miracle. It's safe to say I haven't done an update like this in about 2.5 years! I'd just like to once again thank everyone again for a record month last month, and also thanx to all the new members that have joined in on the excitement of Kart 64 Players, and made that record month possible. There hasn't been any new members this month, but that can be expected cause of school and college starting up.

I would also like to say that I have talked to Robert from Twin Galaxies, and if anyone would like to become TG Eligible at twingalaxies.com, I am going to post the printable Twin Galaxies form soon, along with information on people that I have approved for Twin Galaxies. As far as the book goes, were getting closer, but I am still not sure if I want to just print the scores from the contest, or allow all the new scores from the people that have fully proven themselves AND Gotten their forms in. Time will tell, but stay tuned.

Also, an important change. Everyone please update your records, cause Michael Liem's Email address at the Uni has expired, so you will need to use mliem@wanadoo.nl if you would like to email him. I have changed this on th e main page, but forgot to on the players list, which brings me to my next point. I did get Mcfarlands request, so it's updated, but I know I forgot to fix like a gazillan of your email addresses and screen names, so please, if you have been in the aim chat room and I haven't got you down on the players list for either email address, location, or aim name, please let mek now via email or aim, and I will try to remember this.

Player News

Well I will admit I haven't been following things nearly as close as I should be, but I will mention a few players here that I am seeing some things out of. David Hehn is really getting it together, and so are several other players that are like Elite C - King B. Marcelo Almedia and Thomas Grandjean are really proving to be the next Stars of Kart 64. Marcelo isn't Legend yet, but will be soon, and there just seems to be no limits with Grandjean, that nearly earned his first GOD time just was the deadline for submissions ended.

While Cetin is safe for now for the Non-Sc title, Overall, it's hard to say, cause with the rebirth of SCs, if Penev was to improve shortcut ARR to Legend Plus and beyond, there might be an argument for him to get the overall via an overall aspect. That will be something I will be following as time passes by.

There is sure tons of other strong performances from Alex Penev (SCS), Ben Miller (SCS), Michael Jongerious (Non-sc), Lars Nouwen (CM lap SC WR and overall), Ryokai Chen (got his set of 52 times).

Lastly, we got a new rivalry going on between DiNicola and Dubreuil, as well as Hehn and Mcfarland making this a true 4some of madness in the Elite A-B area. Don't forget that Mike Eklund is also starting to get King Level times, and even scored an amazing FS lap Non-sc just to show you all that he will be catching those other active players, and making a name for himself.

Michael Linski, Todd Worchester, and Dan Edeen have been the silent stalkers of the kart world. It's really hard to mention much about them, but they are making bigtime impacts never the less, and are definitely in the hunt. Last kudos go to Brent Wingert, for going absolutely nuts on Royal, and in fact like every shortcut as well as Chris Rayola managing somehow to stay right with him as he flys up the shortcut charts.

Well I think that is that. I have updated for 3.5 hours, and it's time I call it a night. Thanx out to Frank Dinicola for getting Sepember 1st-4th updated on the timesheet errorfree. If there are errors in the times posted, it's my fault, and make sure to get the corrections into the yahoogroup. Later on all!

Just News Today - by Kevin at 10:55 pm

No Updates, but if I don't get too tired busting out stuff on my brothers job today, I should attempt an update with your times through midday on the 4th.

I just wanted to give props to Lars Nouwen for proving to the kart world that he can indeed get world records, as well as the controversial Wingert showing that he knows what he's talking about on Royal Raceway SC 3lap. Yes boys, you might wanna try for that warp glitch on other laps than lap 3!

Lastly, many karters, including David Hehn are having POW award winning weeks. While it's not as busy as august, which is expected cause of school, I really think that 200 posts to yahoogroups would probably not be too of an out of hand prediction. Keep up the great karting everyone!

ARR+AVE FIN+Top 100 Updated and NOT by Liem????? - by Kevin at 5:51 pm

Yep, can you believe it? Anyhow, I'm not as experienced with this stuff, so I got them updated, but they don't look near as nice. This is stuff that is through the end of last month. I will reupdate and show you some more recent stuff tomorrow, and maybe give you all a players list update as well.

Last word of warning. The top 100s were all put in one clump of 52, cause my computer is so slow that doing all 52 separate pages would take more hours than there is in a day, so if you have a normal modem, you may not want to check that out. I think I'll break it into 4 pieces next time.
