PAL History - by Michael at 9:54 am

Nine months of History have been added to the PAL History page! It's been a while since I last worked on that page. But I plan on getting it up to date in the next few weeks. For now, check out the PAL History from August 1999 to April 2000. I had some good old memories when going through that old stuff...

Sorry about the delay. I ended up pulling a double shift. Anyhow, stats reflecting the 24th are in. Nicole Delinski joins the active crew, and Liem pretty much told the rest of the story.

Next update, you'll get to see Jones reach his goal, and up to 3 new members, so check back real soon!!!!

Top100s, ARRs & AvgFins Updated - by Michael at 7:04 am

Lots of activity in the Legend and King ranks this update.

Legends
In my update from 21st February I said that Lars Nouwen might pass 3 legend players by next update. And guess what, Lars passed those 3 people on the ARR list, and in addition he also passed Louis-Phillipe Sabbagh on AvgFin!
Ben Miller attacked DK's Jungle Parkway, and his results were really frightening: On the flap he set a PAL Worldrecord and climbed from #12 to #3 overall. On 3lap he just missed the PAL WR by 0"06, and he also took the #3 overall spot. These 2 times took him ahead of Peter Elsaesser on the ARR list. Michael Liem and Kevin Booth improved their Wario Stadium PRs, both getting some wins on players.

Kings
Ruokai Chen got a lot of good PRs and pulled away from Yrvin van Wijk and Brent Wingert, who also got some PRs. Chen passed Alex Tsagouris and is close to hitting King A. Tom Gaffikin cut 0.2 from his ARR score, and reached King C! Chris Rayola seems to be focussing on Shortcuts these days. And he's really starting to hit some great times there. He climbed from #26 to #24 on SC AvgFin.

Elite and lower:
Mark Jones tied Andy Launspach on ARR, and can become a King soon. Louis Nebout hit his first King time, and climbed one spot on nonSC AvgFin.
Michael Linski climbed 6 spots for 108th place at nonSC AvgFin, just ahead of Xavier San Giorgi. Nicole Delinski got some PRs and improved from Beginner C to Beginner B rank.

Top100s, ARRs & AvgFins Updated - by Michael at 7:13 am

Congrats to our 2 new Non-Shortcut Kings: Mike Nardone and Michael Jongerius (who even reached King D)! In the Legends section, Louis-Phillipe Sabbagh passed 3 Legend players on the ARR list. Lars Nouwen is close, and might do a similar move next update. Oh, and let's not forget William Lacey's Worldrecord improvement on Mario Raceway 3lap. At Shortcut Average Finish, Chris Rayola made an enormous jump from #52 to #26 in the world.
Other active people to check out: Booth, Chen, Wingert, Gaffikin, Fairbourn, Nebout, San Giorgi, Linski.

POW done - by Ruokai at 7:05 pm

This week's POW award has gone to Sami Cetin!

This guy is truly on flames! He has set an enormous amount of PR's this week. Words truly cannot describe the amount of effort he put in to get these records. And just as another fact:

Sami is the #1 PAL player of SMK
Sami is among the top players of MKSC
And soon he may become champion of Kart 64!

During this time period, Sami truly put all of us in a state of awe with his WS skills. He totally smashed the Non-SC 3lap WR with his 3'39"99 by almost a full second! In addition, he became the first player to reach the GOD standard on Flap (1'12"69). A well done job indeed! Keep it up, and you'll go far.

Welcome To A New Champion - by Kevin at 2:47 pm

With exciting news like this, A veteran of Kart 64 players decided to type up a tribute for our new champion. Countless WRs broken, and to an unknown. Anyhow, without delay, here we go....

PL updated - by Kevin at 2:43 pm

Total Times - by Beau at 9:12 pm

update current to Yahoo Groups #4573
Sami is nearing Steven and is about .4 away for both 3lap and flap. Sami just took off 2 seconds in flap this past week. So, how much longer Sami? HUH?!
Simply Spectacular Sami!
Wait! Wouldn't want to forget wizard William! Way to go William! 9 God times to go.
Big mover is Mike Nardone, nice sized cuts in both 3lap and flap.

Top100s, ARRs & AvgFins Updated - by Michael at 11:20 am

Those pages are updated. William Lacey did some great work on his AvgFin and ARR stats. He might soon be #1 on the ARR list. Great news is the comeback of Louis-Phillipe Sabbagh! He puts himself a little more ahead of Lars Nouwen in nonSC. At Shortcuts he's ranked #9, and closing in on Jonathan Bernier.
Chris Rayola focussed on Shortcut courses this update. He climbed 13 spots for a 52th place on SC AvgFin. Beau Fairbourn took the chance to repass Rayola in nonSC on both ARR and Avg Fin stats. Tom Gaffikin is patiently improving his PRs. King C is getting closer for him.
Mike Nardone is still PRing consistently. I expect him to be King at next update, since he's very close to the ARR barrier. Mark Jones got a little behind this update, but we shouldn't write him off yet, since King is also close for him.

PAL & NTSC Rankings Updated - by Michael at 11:35 am

The PAL and NTSC top tables and ranking pages have been updated. Sami reached #2 on PAL and overall. Three new names are entering the NTSC Worldrankings, and many other players made some improvements.

PL/WR/WR and POW points/Main.... All Updated - by Kevin at 10:58 am

I figured today was a good day to finally take care of the POW points page. I came acrossed a realization when doing this page. Until last week, Ben Miller had NEVER won a single Player Award! Well he finally got one, and is among the list of honored kart players.

POW points are updated, and Sami's 2 new WRs do have an affect on things. Obviously the WR page is also updated.

Players List is updated, and let me tell ya, there is still plenty of drama. Many probably doubted anyone catching Zwartjes, but Cetin is really closing in on him, as he put #2 out of the question for the other kart players.

Lars is sorta alone in the low legends, but he's catching up to the pack.

Kings and Elites are going insane. Just check how many actives there are on your next trip!

Nearly halfway, and we got 129 emails at Yahoogroups. It appears are record pace is slowing to below 300, but keep playing and submitting your times, and we could still have a record month in February!

Lastly, I fixed some small bugs in the main page. More neat things to be released very soon, cause I got some time off work soon.

Top 100s, ARRs & AvgFins updated - by Michael at 12:52 pm

Historical performance by Sami Cetin: At 10th February 2002 Sami got an overall worldrecord time of 3'39"99 on Wario Stadium 3lap, making him the first person to break the insane 3'40"00 barrier. On the fastlap he got another Worldrecord. Brian Gallo was the former WR holder on those tracks. Sami scored PRs on other courses as well. A total of 9 unique PRs in 4 days is really astounding for a player at his level. It puts him at 2nd place in nonSC AvgFinish. How long will it take until Steven will lose the #1 spot, he has hold for over 2 years now?

Other big non-shortcut improvements were made by Chris Rayola, Mike Nardone, Mark Jones and Michael Jongerius. Rayola reached King D, Nardone and Jones are getting closer to reaching King ranks. Michael Jongerius returned from inactivity by climbing from Elite D to Elite B!

Other people with PRs were: William Lacey, Lars Nouwen, Yrvin van Wijk, Brent Wingert, Tom Gaffikin, Beau Fairbourn, Kelly Malo and Michael Linski. Wingert and Gaffikin made some moves on the Shortcut AvgFin rankings.

Total Times - by Beau at 8:26 pm

Total Times have been updated to reflect postings up to #4531 Yahoo Groups. Big time mover as of recent is Chris Rayola. Many other significant time reductions have taken place over the past week in both non-sc and sc. There are four more days for POW#2; who will make the most impact in this fast and furious February?

PROOF TAPE TIME - by Kevin at 2:20 pm

Well I figured since I sent mine out, it's getting close to that time where the insanely active players that haven't released a tape yet should now try to get their last races on there, and send them away.

If possible, it would be great to see the nearly completed tapes in the next couple months, if possible. If you have a way to make your own mov files, or you have proven before, other arrangements can be made, or I just might ask for a specific race. I've been a bit lax on the proof stuff, cause heck, I haven't released on in awhile, and everyone has been conducting themselves in a very professional manner around here. I am very proud of everyone in that respect, but I know alot of you have tapes with races just sitting around, so now is the time.

NTSC tapes can be sent to me, unless you want them to be made into movies right away, than you can send it to Chen

PAL tapes can be sent to Ben Miller. Chen said he has a place to take pal tapes and get them worked out, so that is yet another option.

Anyhow, for details on this, you khow how to contact us all. Anyhow, this applies, as I said before, to the very active players, that haven't proven before, and have no way to make movies themselves. Any diffculties or questions, contact me.

3 DEX + TAPE OUT - by Kevin at 2:12 pm

Well, I finally got it busted out. The 3 Dex drives are sold out and are heading to the people who have made the deal. 2 of them costed 5.75 to ship, and the one to Canada cost 2 dollars extra. Funny story about that next.

First, I got to the post office in Jasper, where I always go cause there is like no line, and it was closed by noon on saturday. This is some new policy that just got into effect recently. I wasn't too happy, but what can ya do, ya know?

I go to pakmail and get hte stuff done. Ended up going up over $20 for everything, which was more than I wanted to spend, but at least it's all done.

Anyhow, we both spaced the fact that I was sending a canadian package (not only do they have to print 2 languages on everything, but you have to get a declaration and pay $2 more).

Anyhow, the guy couldn't find my # cause it's unlisted, so he just drove down to my house, and we busted it out at my door. That package is gonna be a couple days later, but hey, it's taken care of!

Lastly, my tape of races is heading to Chen for processing. More on that in the next news feature.

Main Page Updated - by Kevin at 2:05 pm

I fixed the movies link, so it's html and not htmll.

I also linked the news total times page that will now be maintained and updated by Beau Fairbourn. It's only results up to the 6th so far, but was soon as the new time sheet gets passed around, it will reflect some of the madness as of late.

POW done - by Ruokai at 8:38 pm

POW for the first week of February has been decided. Ben Miller deserves this award, for he has made a significant 0.4 ARR cut. He set some great personal records during this time period. 0.4 is a huge accomplishment for a player at his level, and as Kevin tells me, normally it would take a couple of months to achieve that. On his explosive week, he also passed 3 players, to become 12th Karter in the world. Congrats to Ben! Keep up the good work.

Top 100s, ARRs & AvgFins updated - by Michael at 1:00 am

They're updated again. Check it out. Great times from Sami Cetin on MMF and BB 3lap. He almost passed Alex Penev on nonSC avg fin with that. Jason Whalls made a comeback to this game with a nice FS flap time. Lars Nouwen reached #18 place in shortcut avg fin, and Chris Rayola made some solid improvements again. Other active people were Brent Wingert, Tom Gaffikin, Mark Jones, Mike Nardone and Xavier San Giorgi.

Top 100s, ARRs & AvgFins updated - by Michael at 3:38 pm

As Kevin said, karting activity has been amazing in the last few days. Let's try to summarize things:

Legends:
William Lacey and Alex Penev improved some PRs and both are tied for 2nd place on ARR. Penev increased the gap with Sami Cetin on AvgFin again. It will be interesting to see who's #2 on next Player List update.
Ben Miller reached Legend B in non-SC and passed Marsden, Whalls and Batastini for a 12th place on the nonSC AvgFin rankings! Lars Nouwen made a huge YV flap improvement, which put him another step closer to Legend D.

Kings:
Standings in the Chen - van Wijk - Wingert battle stayed about the same. Chen succesfully defended his lead at the AvgFin rankings, Yrvin van Wijk stayed ahead on the ARR list and Wingert kept following closely. Tom Gaffikin might join this battle soon, as he's approaching quickly.
Beau Fairbourn started playing again, to make sure he'd stay ahead of the Elite players who are trying to reach the King ranks. He passed Sterling Neblett to reach 39th place on ARR and AvgFin.
And indeed, one of the elite players has reached King! Congrats go to Chris Rayola. He crushed the Elite battle, by climbing from Elite B to King F within 6 days!

Elites:
The three other hot Elite players, Jones, Nardone and Jeram have all reached Elite A, and are looking forward to become a King soon. Kelly Malo returned from inactivity and quickly reached Elite A. He might try to sneak ahead and reach King before the other players. Marc Bruton also got some PRs.

Other:
Michael Linski climbed 15 places on the nonSC avg Fin rankings to reach #126. Xavier San Giorgi avoided getting passed by climbing from #127 to #117.

Nothing Updated, But... - by Kevin at 4:42 am

OMG! I just look at the activity at the beginning of this month, and know we are going to set some sorta record. We are on pace to have 350 emails this month, and that would crush anything that has ever happened. I simply am not believing just how many players are playing and putting in the hours. Were gonna have the Elites be Kings and the Kings be legends in no time at this rate. This may be another one of those times that kart history looks back, and recognizes moments like these. Anyhow, while I'm at it...

Dex Drives are on sale. Mark Jones has already got one I will be sending him VERy soon, but I do have 2 left. If anyone is interested, they are $15 plus shipping, so lets say $20 covers it all. I am only extending that price to the continental US and canada. I sent one to australia one time, and got charged 24 shipping!!!!! So forget that!

Soon I'll be sending out my tape. Ya, I know I keep saying this, and maybe if I do, I might just do this someday. The same day I do that I will be sending one of the 3 dexes out.

What else to cover? Well, there are some site projects on the works. Hidden pages will be reinstated into the site, and the History page with the efforts of a few karters will be caught up. If any of you new guys would like to get your feet wet in some of these projects, or have some good ideas, you all know how to contact me.

Next PL update is um.... well... SOON I HOPE! Heck, I'm not even getting prs, and I'm extremely interested in what the standings are now. I guess you know you must be making things interesting and worthwhile around here than. As a community we can do everything, and crud... THIS IS YEAR 5 FOR KART! Make this year the best year yet...

Awards! - by Ruokai at 4:48 pm

All of January's awards have been decided. First of all, I would like to congratulate the winners, because you guys truly deserved them. And to the rest of you, you are great karters as well! January's awards were very difficult to decide, because there was much great karting going on.

The POW goes to Chris Rayola. I feel no one deserves this award more than him. Although this is not confirmed at all, he took a month break from this game, before he joined the site, and make Elite from Pro? in a matter of days. When I talked to him one night, he told me he was ranked as Master A. The next day, he said he was at Elite C! He is truly an "ExpertGamer".

The POM of this month was very hard to decide as well. Many of the Elite B's played a full, and great month. However, there is really only one name that sticks out. Usually, players who think they had a great week who don't get the POW are depressed and lose passion. This guy, though, kept on playing and showed us he kept the passion and really wanted this award. Congratulations to Mike Nardone!

End of month Top100/ARR/AvgFin Update - by Michael at 11:55 am

January 2002 has come to a spectacular end. Yesterday was one of the most active days ever seen in this game.
In the elite battle, the ranking situation was changing almost every hour! At first, Mike Nardone looked to be pulling away from Stanley Jeram. Jeram, on his part, also started mass PR-ing and after several ranking exchanges he took over Nardone. It looked like he was closing the gap to Mark Jones. Jones answered that attack by releasing his PRs at the end of the day. He got back his safe margin again and looked to become the winner of the battle. However, the ultimate winner of the day was Chris Rayola. Some high quality PRs made him gain tons of points, which was just enough to edge out Jones in nonSC AvgFinish.

The kings also had their battle. Chen - Wingert - Yrvin van Wijk. All 3 people made some PRs in the last few days. Yrvin is having a strong month, and he was the person who came out on top of this battle. He passed Chen on the ARR list. In AvgFinish Chen and van Wijk both passed Steven Foy. Chen still has a small lead over van Wijk there, but as you could see on Kevin's Player List update from yesterday, Yrvin has already passed Chen on the nonSC Player List.

Alex Penev, the #1 ranked SC player returned to this game with a Worldrecord improvement on Luigi Raceway SC flap. Sami Cetin kept getting some easy PRs, which is quite amazing at his level.
Tom Gaffikin is a bit lonely with nobody else being really active in the King F ranks. So, he decided to get out of that level quickly. An amazing 3 days gave him a 0.5 ARR cut, which puts him into the King D ranks, ahead of Kris Milo.
Eise Smit and Marc Bruton were the other active elite players. They have taken quite some losses to the 4 hot elite players. But don't forget them yet. If they keep setting PRs they will be able to repass some people very soon.

Michael Linski is improving through the Advanced ranks quickly. He climbed another 11 spots for a 136th place on nonSC AvgFin. Xavier San Giorgi climbed from #116 to #81 on the Shortcut AvgFin rankings.
