MORTAL KOMBAT: DECEPTION KONQUEST SIDE MISSIONS/QUESTS FAQ v1.3 ©2004 Isaac Rodriguez RELEASED: December 1, 2004 Best viewed using these settings: Monaco-9, 4 spaces per tab, and a character width at 95. ==INTRO== One thing I hated about the KONQUEST MODE in Mortal Kombat: Deception was its lack of a to-do list when talking to various NPCs. You would be on one side mission or quest and then you would get thrown into another one. Then you would forget that one and so on and so on. The thing is that you would not want to forget these missions because you aquire items and make a lot of koins completing them. This FAQ is split into each realm and all the missions pertaining to that realm. The What?, Where?, and When? are broken down like this: Mission: What the side mission or quest is about. Location: Where the quest begins or is located. Sometimes When also. What to do: Self explanatory. Reward: What you get out of it. Sometimes they are missions - deliver this or that - and sometimes (most times) they are quests - find this or that. However you choose to call it, you got to do a lot of running around. :D There are also some non-missions/quests in here for items that could be useful later. ==THE MAP GRID== Basically, the realms each have a map that is accessed by pushing the BLACK button on your XBOX controller. Press the equivalent button on your PS2 controller. This map is split into a 8x8 grid that runs columns, A-H, and rows, 1-8. It starting to looks like it's not random. One thing to remember though is that doing these missions will usually give you over 200 KOINS (not all but most). - The NPC with whom these missions begin are usually within the area specified. Sometimes they also like to walk around which explains some of the locations having more than one area. - If a REWARD has a question mark by it, either I'm not sure if that's what is given, they never showed me a window that told me what I got, or I just haven't figured it out yet. - If there is a mission tabbed under another mission, that mission cannot be done until you do the one above it. - When you complete a side quest or get up to the 'What to do' part, go back and talk to the person that sent you on the quest for your reward. Sometimes you don't have to though. - The TIME for these interactions are mostly during the day unless specified otherwise. - There are a least three incidents, to my knowledge, that have two choices on who to give an item to. I don't think it matters... yet. - Concerning two missions: Giving Raiden his Bo Staff back - So far, mission doesn't exist. You keep it. Finding Sindel's Ring - It's there. It may go into the rock if you take too long. Or someone stole it. - Concerning some items: Ninja Star - It's useless. You don't use it. Colored Keys - Some of them don't disappear after they are used. This is considered a bug in the game. Others, you don't use at all (Key (Onyx)). Locksmith Tools - You only use these outside the village and it doesn't open all doors. Shirai-ryu Message - Used only as a hint for a quest later. You keep it after the quest is over. Map of Cave - If you alert Liu Kang of the trap, you keep this item. Journal or Bloody Knife - You can only use one in the quest, so you'll be stuck with the other. - This FAQ is not final so I could have some things wrong. ==REALMS== +---------------------------------+ | EARTHREALM - Inside the village | +---------------------------------+ Mission: Help this villager cure his toothache. Location: A-6, B-6 What to do: Punch him 3x. Reward: 400 SAPPHIRE KOINS Mission: Find the hiding boy. Location: B-6 What to do: Go to the park (A-6) and go to the upper left corner. The boy is hidding there. He will give you the MYSTERIOUS KEY (PLATINUM) that opens the hut at the corner of the block (B-6). Reward: 400 RUBY KOINS Mission: Find the lost key somewhere in the park. Location: B-5 What to do: Go to park (A-6) and get the KEY (SAPPHIRE) on the right. Before you give him back the key, go into the house at the corner of A-5 and open the chest. Reward: 250 RUBY KOINS Mission: Get an old woman's key. Location: A-6, B-6 What to do: Hit the old woman walking around for the HUT KEY (GOLD). Then go to the second hut at B-5. Reward: 65 PLATINUM KOINS, 150 GOLD KOINS, 50 JADE KOINS, 60 SAPPHIRE KOINS, 140 ONYX KOINS Mission: Find a Woman's missing son. Location: B-5, C-5 What to do: Go to Bo Rai Cho's fifth dojo (A-3) and talk to one of the kids. Reward: 400 SAPPHIRE KOINS Mission: Wake up the lazy boy sleeping in the woods. Location: B-5 What to do: Go to D-4 and wake up the boy. Talk to him later. Reward: NINJA STAR Mission: Deliver a note to the blacksmith. Location: B-6, C-6 What to do: Go to the blacksmith (B-4). Reward: Moral that not everything done yields rewards. (Sounds good to me.) Mission: Find medicine for the sick boy before 8 PM. Location: C-5 What to do: Go to B-6 and get the BOTTLE OF MEDICINE from the lady hanging up clothes. Reward: 600 ONYX KOINS - Stand by the left lamppost of Bo Rai Cho's second dojo (B-5) and face the wall on a Wednesday at 4 AM. Mission: Reclaim the pawned wedding ring. Location: D-5 What to do: Go to the merchant at C-6 and punch him for the WEDDING RING. Reward: 400 PLATINUM KOINS Mission: Teach Mekko a lesson. Location: D-5 What to do: Go to the park (A-6) and talk to Mekko. Then punch him for 400 PLATINUM KOINS. Go back to the kids and you'll get the PARENTS HUT KEY (RUBY) used to open the right hut in D-4. Reward: 140 ONYX KOINS Mission: Fill up the bucket at a well. Location: Hut in D-4 What to do: Go the one of the wells (A-3 or B-6). Reward: 400 JADE KOINS Mission: Locate flour for the baker. Location: Hut in D-4 What to do: Go to the storage (B-3). Reward: 400 SAPPHIRE KOINS Mission: Find a lost dog. Location: Hut in D-3 What to do: Go to the hut at C-3 and talk to the man. Reward: 400 RUBY KOINS Mission: Get some ham from the butcher to bribe the guard Location: C-4 What to do: Go talk to the butcher (C-6) and he'll give you HAM. Reward: PASSAGE THROUGH THE BRIDGE Mission: Find proof that oni exist. Location: Hut in A-4 What to do: Go to B-6 and wait until 11 PM. An oni will be strolling by. Punch him and retrieve the ONI TOOTH. Reward: 500 GOLD KOINS Mission: Locate a lost bracelet. Location: A-3 What to do: Go to D-5 Reward: 400 RUBY KOINS Mission: Find a vase for the strange man. Reward: 600 SAPPHIRE KOINS Mission: Find Bo' Rai Cho's Warrior Medallion Location: C-4 What to do: Go to the docks (B-2) and talk to the old man. Go east (C-2) and talk to the man in the middle. Then punch him for the FISHERMANS KEY. Return to the old man to get the MEDALLION. Also, go talk to the men located west (B-3) for 400 RUBY KOINS. Reward: 500 PLATINUM KOINS Mission: Discover what is happening in the hut to the south. Location: C-6 What to do: Go to the hut next door going south (C-6). You need the LOCKSMITH TOOLS to open the door. Enter to catch a Shirai-Ryu ninja. Reward: SHIRAI-RYU MESSAGE - it will give you a hint for a later side mission. Mission: Secure the artifact for the Lin Kuei. Location: G-8 What to do: Go to field (A-8), then look in the cave. Reward: KAMIDOGU Mission: Find and defeat the Shirai-Ryu to proove your loyalty. Location: G-8 What to do: Go to the field (E-8) east of the Temple. Talk to the middle person until they fess up. Beat Scorpion to get the SHIRAI-RYU MASK. Location: A-7 What to do: Go behind the building (C-6) and punch the oni for the ANCIENT SPELLBOOK. Meditate and wait for him if you lose him. Reward: 400 RUBY KOINS Mission: Retrieve the hidden Earthrealm map from the temple ruins and return to Mokap for a reward. Location: H-6 What to do: Jump on the platform (H-6) that takes you to the Temple Ruins. Move off the other platform (E-8) to get it. Reward: 400 PLATINUM KOINS (= $20) Mission: Locate Kobra and defeat him in battle. Location: E-3 What to do: Kobra is in the Temple Ruins (H-7) after completing Konquest. Defeating him gives you 300 PLATINUM KOINS.
