He's a great actor for sure, and I'm sure he could be great as Thom. For some reason, though, I just can't see him in the role. Sean Connery Height: 6'2" Hair: gray Eyes: brown DoB: 8/25/30	I've never seen this actor in action, but just from his picture, I can totally see him as Thom. He's got the bushy eyebrows and he wears a thick mustache well. There also seems to be a hint of energy belying his graying appearance. Sam Elliot Height: 6'2" Hair: gray Eyes: brown DoB: 8/9/44
I've got no doubts at all that Ian McKellen could portray Thom and do it wonderfully. There's really not much more to say about it than that. I guess, if the question should actually ever arise, though, people would have to think about whether they'd want such a high-profile actor -- who's already an iconic figure for the classic fantasy -- to play a role in The Wheel of Time. He's just got that kind of voice that can really pull you in to what he's saying, and then, when he really wants you to listen to what he's saying, he can turn on the resonance and bring an extra amount of character and life to his words.
