natural selection.  The process in nature by which only the organisms best adapted to their environment tend to survive and transmit their genetic characteristics in increasing numbers to succeeding generations while those less adapted tend to be eliminated.  The Suliban Cabal was not satisfied with the slow pace of natural selection and genetically engineered themselves.  ("Broken Bow" [ENT]).

[Neptune]Neptune.  A gas giant planet, eighth in the Sol system.  Neptune is orbited by eight moons and a narrow ring system.  Enterprise can traverse the distance from Earth to Neptune and back in six minutes.  ("Broken Bow" [ENT]).

nitrogen sulfide.  A radical compound, composed of one nitrogen and one sulfur atom.  Enterprise explored an allegedly inhabited planet with a nitrogen sulfide atmosphere in 2151.  ("Broken Bow" [ENT]).

Novans.  The human colonists of Terra Nova.  After the adult Novans died from radiation poisoning in 2081, the children grew up underground, believing that they were distinct from the humans that they blamed for the radiation.  In 2151, Enterprise arrived at Terra Nova and revealed the truth.  The Novans' water supply was contaminated, but they were successfully relocated to another continent.  ("Terra Nova" [ENT]).
