maglock. A system utilizing magnetic attraction to attach two objects. The Enterprise grapplers use maglocks. These locks can be disrupted by the presence of eisilium. ("Breaking the Ice" [ENT]).
Malurians. An intelligent and advanced herpeto-humanoid species. Malurians have green, scaly skin but can closely resemble humans with simple masks. A Malurian viridium mining operation on the A'kali homeworld run by Garos was responsible for an illness in the local city. Enterprise removed the facility after defeating the orbiting Malurian starship. ("Civilization" [ENT]). The Malurians were mentioned in "The Changeling" (TOS), another nice Enterprise nod to the original series. In that episode, their homeworld was rendered uninhabitable by the Nomad space probe.
Malurian shuttle. A small planetary transport equipped with a tractor beam. A Malurian shuttle was used to transport viridium from the A'kali homeworld. ("Civilization" [ENT]).
Malurian starship. A type of large, powerful space vehicle. Malurian starships are equipped with transporters, energy shields, and devastating weapon charges. In 2151, Enterprise defeated a Malurian starship over the A'kali homeworld by detonating an antimatter reactor nearby. ("Civilization" [ENT]).
Mayweather,
Ensign Travis. (Anthony Montgomery). The helmsman of Enterprise.
Mayweather was born around 2123 aboard the E.C.S.
Horizon, about halfway between Draylax
and Vega Colony. He was raised as a
space boomer, living aboard the Horizon
for his entire childhood. Mayweather was
fascinated by the lost colony of Terra Nova as a child. He felt that the
mystery was particularly compelling to boomers, fellow people who chose to live off world.
He promised his father that he would one day see Terra
Nova. ("Terra
Nova" [ENT]). During his fourth, fifth, and sixth grade years,
Mayweather's family traveled to Trillius Prime. He also visited both the
Teneebian moons and Draylax, where he experienced the female natives' unique
endowments first hand. ("Broken Bow" [ENT]).
Mayweather broke with boomer tradition when he
joined Starfleet, leaving the rest of his family
aboard the Horizon. ("Fortunate
Son" [ENT]). When Enterprise
investigated the Terra Nova colony in 2151, Mayweather wrote the official report
at the request of Captain Archer. ("Terra Nova" [ENT]). A
few weeks later, the helmsman accompanied Lieutenant Reed to
Archer's Comet,
only the third time he had ever seen snow. ("Breaking the Ice"
[ENT]).
methane. A flammable gaseous alkaline (CH4) formed in the decomposition of vegetable matter. Klaang killed his Suliban pursuers in 2151 by detonating a methane-rich corn silo with his disruptor. ("Broken Bow" [ENT]).
micron. A unit of length equal to one millionth of a meter. ("Broken Bow" [ENT]). Curiously, the term "micron" is currently obsolete in favor of micrometer, but it will apparently be resurrected sometime in the future.
Minshara-class planet. The Vulcan designation for a planet capable of supporting humanoid life. ("Strange New Worlds" [ENT]). This is obviously where the familiar "Class M" designation for Earth-like planets originated from. It is possible that Minshara is the name of the Vulcan homeworld in the native language.
Moore. A corn farmer on Earth. Klaang crashed in Moore's fields in 2151, pursued by two Suliban agents. After the Klingon destroyed Moore's silo and killed the Suliban, the farmer shot Klaang with a plasma rifle. ("Broken Bow" [ENT]).
myofiber. One of many contractile filaments that make up a striated muscle fiber. Torn myofibers can be healed with eel therapy. ("Broken Bow" [ENT]).
