K'toch class. A type of Klingon shuttlecraft. Klaang piloted a K'toch-class shuttle for his meeting with Sarin in 2151. ("Broken Bow" [ENT]). The name "K'toch" is from the script, it was in a scene cut from the final episode.
Klaang.
A Klingon who
crashed on Earth in 2151,
making first contact with humans. Klaang was
sent by the Klingon High Council to Rigel
X for a meeting with Sarin regarding efforts by
the Suliban to incite a Klingon
civil war. His DNA was encoded with vital
information on Suliban activities. On the
return trip, Klaang's shuttlecraft was shot down by Suliban
agents. Enterprise was sent to
return Klaang to Kronos, but he was kidnapped by more Suliban
and interrogated. Enterprise
successfully rescued Klaang and brought him to Kronos,
where the information he carried averted the potential war. ("Broken
Bow" [ENT]).
Klingon battlecruiser. A type of large military starship. Klingon battlecruisers are armed with photon torpedoes and equipped with tractor beams. ("Unexpected" [ENT]). The Klingon battlecruiser is a reuse of a CGI model from "Prophecy" (VGR). In that episode, it was referred to as a D7-class vessel. The ship is a modification of the K'tinga-class design, first seen in Star Trek: The Motion Picture, with subdued detailing. It is a more detailed model than the outwardly similar battlecruiser seen in the original Star Trek series, also identified as a D7. Unfortunately, this paints a very convoluted picture of Klingon starship design; at the very least, they operated nearly identical ships for more than two centuries. Another potential anachronism is the use of twenty-fourth century photon torpedo and tractor beam visual effects. Apparently the Klingons developed (or otherwise acquired) this technology before humans and Vulcans.
Klingon Empire. A political organization originating on Kronos. The Klingon Empire was founded around 872 by Kahless, who defeated the tyrant Molor. By 2069, the ruling High Council had gained enough strength that the position of emperor was no longer filled. ("Rightful Heir" [TNG]). The Vulcans had rudimentary contact with the Klingon Empire prior to 2151. That year, the Suliban Cabal attempted to incite a Klingon civil war as part of a temporal cold war, but conflict was averted with the aid of Enterprise. ("Broken Bow" [ENT]).
Klingon High Council. The ruling body of the Klingon Empire, led by a chancellor. ("Broken Bow" [ENT]). Around 2069, the High Council gained enough power to begin ruling without an emperor. ("Rightful Heir" [TNG]).
Klingon warbird. A type of large military starship. The Klingons operate warbirds in squadrons. ("Broken Bow" [ENT]). Before the episode the term warbird had only been used to describe Romulan ships. However, the two species share the term "bird of prey" for smaller ships, so it is not unbelievable that they also both operate warbirds.
Klingons.
An intelligent warrior species native to Kronos.
Klingons are humanoid, with pronounced ridges running from the nose, over the
head, and down the back. They also have ridges on the chest and
feet. Klingon internal anatomy is highly redundant.
("Ethics" [TNG]). First contact between the Klingons and humans
occurred in 2151 when Klaang
crashed on Earth. ("Broken
Bow" [ENT]).
"Kling-ot." An erroneous pronunciation of Klingon by Admiral Forrest. ("Broken Bow" [ENT]).
Kolinahr. The Vulcan ritual purging of all emotion and adherence to pure logic, above and beyond the commitment made by most followers of Surak. Kolinahr is studied in the deserts on Vulcan (Star Trek: The Motion Picture) and in the monastery of P'Jem. ("The Andorian Incident" [ENT]).
Kronos. A planet, homeworld of the Klingons. Parts of Kronos are mountainous and cold. ("Broken Bow" [ENT]). The planet has one moon, Praxis. (Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country). Around 1372, Kronos was invaded by the Hur'q and pillaged. ("The Sword of Kahless" [DS9]).
