E

[Earth]Earth.  Third planet in the Terran system, homeworld to humans.  ("Broken Bow" [ENT]).

Earthlings.  SEE: humans.

E Deck.  Fifth level of Enterprise.  Ensign Sato's quarters were initially on E Deck, starboard side, section 5, but she switched with Ensign Porter to the port side.  ("Fight or Flight" [ENT]).

eel therapy.  The application of osmotic eels to heal muscle injuries.  Captain Archer underwent eel therapy after being shot in the leg by a Suliban weapon.  ("Broken Bow" [ENT]).

egg drop soup.  A liquid Chinese food made by stirring beaten eggs into a simmering broth.  Doctor Phlox enjoys egg drop soup.  ("Broken Bow" [ENT]).

electromagnetic spectrum.  The entire range of radiation including, in order of decreasing frequency, cosmic-ray photons, gamma rays, x-rays, ultraviolet radiation, visible light, infrared radiation, microwaves, and radio waves.  Phosphorus can distort EM communications bands.  ("Broken Bow" [ENT]).

EM.  SEE: electromagnetic spectrum.

endocrine system.  The bodily system that consists of the endocrine glands and functions to regulate body activities.  Doctor Phlox developed a fondness for the human endocrine system while Enterprise returned Klaang to Kronos in 2151.  ("Broken Bow" [ENT]).

energy field.  A projection of energy designed to prevent access.  The Suliban employed energy fields to contain prisoners at the Rigel X trade complex.  ("Broken Bow" [ENT]).  The term "energy field" is from the script.  How these energy field differ from traditional force fields, if they do at all, was not explained.

[Enterprise]Enterprise.  A Starfleet vessel, registry number NX-01, and the first human vessel to use the Warp 5 engineEnterprise was launched from Spacedock in 2151 under the command of Captain Archer.  The launch was some three weeks before schedule, to transport Klaang to Kronos after his crash on EarthEnterprise is 190 meters long and masses 80,000 metric tonnes, with a crew of 82.  ("Strange New World" [ENT]).  She is equipped with polarized hull plating for defense.  Offensively, Enterprise mounts laser cannons, plasma-charged artillery, and torpedoes.  While Enterprise has two shuttlepods for away team transportation, she also has a transporter approved for bio-transport, though it is rarely used.  ("Broken Bow" [ENT]).  Many of he statistics for Enterprise were given in the series bible, and may be contradicted.  It should be noted that a number of fans object to what they allege are anachronisms in the Enterprise design, though I submit that they are no greater than others throughout Star Trek history.

environmental suit.  A pressure suit designed to maintain life-support in hostile environments.  ("Fight or Flight" [ENT]).

esparan.  A Vulcan word meaning "thank you."  ("Broken Bow" [ENT]).

evolution.  The natural process that results in heritable changes in a population spread over many generations.  The Suliban were dissatisfied with the pace of their own evolution and genetically engineered themselves to have superior abilities.  ("Broken Bow" [ENT]).
