Daniels.
An undercover agent claiming to originate in the thirty-first century.
Daniels identified himself as human, more or less,
coming from a place called Illinois on Earth,
depending on what one's definition of Earth is. Daniels posed as a
steward aboard Enterprise in 2151
for the purpose of capturing the temporal renegade Silik.
Silik apparently killed Daniels, though with the vagaries
of time travel and future technology, his
ultimate fate is ambiguous. ("Cold
Front" [ENT]). The nature of Daniels's mission, and even the
mission itself, is so inherently complicated that it is difficult to know
anything about him. All of the information in this entry could easily be
false. One possible scenario is that Daniels was a sort of hologram,
projected back in time. Another is that he is genetically modified to
survive repeated temporal transport, established to be dangerous in
"Relativity" (VGR).
decon chamber. An enclosed compartment for the elimination of harmful substances and organisms from the body. Enterprise has a decon chamber for use upon return to the ship from a planet. The chamber is lit with ultraviolet light and features small compartments for the transfer of decon-gel. ("Broken Bow" [ENT]).
decon-gel. A semisolid liquid for the elimination of harmful substances and organisms from the body. Decon-gel is customized to the specific substance or organism to be eliminated. It is employed primarily in the decon chamber aboard Enterprise. ("Broken Bow" [ENT]).
deflector. A device used to clear space dust and other small objects from a starship's path. Enterprise has a golden dish-shaped deflector at the forward primary hull. ("Broken Bow" [ENT]).
depth charge. An explosive charge designed for detonation at a preset depth under water or in a planet's atmosphere. The Suliban employed depth charges against Enterprise in the gas giant containing the Suliban Helix. ("Broken Bow" [ENT]).
Denobula Triaxa. A star system, home to the Denobulans. ("Breaking the Ice" [ENT]).
Denobulans.
An intelligent species. The Denobulans have bright eyes and a series of ridges on their
foreheads, temples, and chins. They are an efficient species, considering
conversation during a meal to be a waste of time. ("Fight
or Flight" [ENT]). Doctor Phlox
is a Denobulan ("Terra Nova" [ENT])
participating in the Interspecies
Medical Exchange. ("Broken Bow"
[ENT]).
devil. In Christian mythology, the major personified spirit of evil, ruler of hell, and foe of Jehovah. Captain Archer compared the Suliban acquisition of genetic engineering technology to a deal with the devil. ("Broken Bow" [ENT]).
digger. A species of burrowing animal native to Terra Nova. The Novans used diggers for food and some clothing. ("Terra Nova" [ENT]).
Dillard. (Mike Baldridge). A Starfleet engineer serving aboard Enterprise. ("Unexpected" [ENT]).
disruptor. A type of handheld energy weapon. Klaang carried a disruptor when he crashed on Earth in 2151, and used it to detonate methane and kill his Suliban pursuers. ("Broken Bow" [ENT]. Klaang's weapon was never named in the final episode, but the script called it a disruptor. This is consistent with later Klingon weapons.
DNA. Deoxyribonucleic acid, a molecule that carries the genetic information in the cell, is capable of self-replication, and determines individual hereditary characteristics. Suliban DNA was modified through genetic engineering. Klaang carried information about them encoded in his own DNA in 2151. ("Broken Bow" [ENT]).
docking arm. A device to capture smaller spacecraft and bring them into a starship. The Enterprise docking arm includes deployable grapplers. ("Broken Bow").
docking interface. A system to couple vehicles together. The Suliban docking interface is a maglock with inertial clamps. ("Broken Bow").
Draylax. A planet, inhabited by a species with three-breasted females. Ensign Mayweather has visited Draylax. ("Broken Bow"). The three-breasted Draylax species may be the same as the three-breasted cat woman seen in Star Trek V: The Final Frontier. Or it may not.
dutara root. A Xyrillian food. Dutara root is the Ah'Len's favorite food. ("Unexpected" [ENT]).
