Pancake Breakfast April 21st
We are quickly approaching our annual Pancake Breakfast date and need your support to sell as many tickets for the event as you can. The more ticket sales we have, the more $$$ we make from the fundraiser.
We can still use raffle prizes, so ask your associates if they have an item they would like to donate.
Thank you, Lion Ben & Lion John

Thank you for all those that have participated in the Bowl-a-thon. It was smaller than expected this year. Please make a point to participate next year.
DISTRICT 4-C3 LEO CONVENTION
The Leos of District 4-C3 held their 4th Annual Convention on March 2nd, 2002. Admission into the convention was free, but each Leo and Lion were asked to bring a sweater with a letter as part of their "free admission". The collection of these sweaters was part of the District's approach to get their "Sweater with a Letter to Afghanistan" Project underway.
The main events of the convention were held at the Oakland Blind Center, and then the Leos took a short stroll across the street to the Masonic Lodge where the evening's events took place.
This day-long event not only brought all 145 Leos together, but even allowed them to get to know each other a little better. Breaking-out into three groups led by volunteer Leo leaders, the Leos enjoyed themselves as they played some icebreaker games. These games showed each Leo's ability to overcome their shyness and told each other a few words about themselves. Leadership and communication skills emerged when groups of five to six worked together to act like a specific machine, and play a game of "Group" charades. In the end, some Leos were unfortunately faced with "punishment and embarrassment" for having suffered defeat; but of course, it was all in the good nature of having fun.
Although the games ended, the fun continued as the Leos came together to demonstrate the Lionism motto "We Serve", by cleaning some 5,000 pairs of used eyeglasses. The Leos wanted to help in the efforts of restoring the supply of eyeglasses lost due to the warehouse fire in Vallejo late last year.

Grill Update
The two grills we inherited from the Mt. Eden Lions Club are now in
good working order. We have purchased new regulators and hoses for them.
They have been cleaned and tested and the pancakes taste great!!
