Newark Day Parade
On Saturday, September 22nd Dawn Breakers Lions Club participated in the Newark Days Parade. We had a float, a miniature dune buggy, a miniature powered Model A truck, my wife in the lion suit, and several Lions walking in the parade. We won first place for Amateur Float and the Mayor's Trophy for the best local float (includes amateurs and professionals). The Mayor's Trophy also included a $200 dollar check to Dawn Breakers Lions Club. Thank you to all those who helped decorate the float on Friday night, helped find the supplies like the trailer, vehicles, helium balloon of the earth, and walked in the parade. Cub Scout Pack 441 also donated some of the decorations they used in the Thursday children's parade. In turn, we are donating $25 of our winnings to the Cub Scouts. ~Lion Mike Hale

Membership Contest
Our Membership Contest will start on October 1st. and conclude on December 31st.

This year's contest will have special emphasis on recruiting younger members (under the age of 45). There will be a special award given to any member sponsoring a new member in that age group. We do have a couple of active members in that age group and they would like to see their age group better represented in our club. We all know how vital "new young blood" is in our type of club. We still encourage all potential members of any age so let's bring them to a breakfast meeting to share in all our rewards. Remember the reasons you joined our club and spread the news!!

At the October 4th meeting, we will form our teams. All teams will have an equal number of active, semi-active, and non-active members. The last two names on each team will be members that we have not seen in a long time and encourage them to try to make meetings once in a while.

WINNING TEAM: A team that has brought in at least one new member or encouraged one of our non-active members to attend at least two meetings during the three month contest. Note: Non-active members are the last two names of each team list and can be encouraged to attend by Any member of Any team. All members of a winning team will be treated to a special surprise at the conclusion of the contest.

NEW MEMBER PROSPECTS: Jaycee members who reach age 40 must leave Jaycees and Lions International will honor their years of service. Others are former Lions, vision and hearing teachers, spouses, neighbors, friends, family members, customers, and other members of other organizations (busy people are often your best prospects). The list of prospects is endless and many are just waiting to be asked.
